YUBA CITY, Ca.: The sports lovers in the Punjabi Community of North America, have decided to form a sports organization to be called South East Asian Sports Association of North America. The purpose of this sports body is to provide necessary guidelines for organizing tournaments, to coordinate the schedule ‘of various tournaments and to assist each other in the normal conduct of these tournaments. It will also perform ‘other duties which are assigned to it or those which are essential for the promotion of sports in our community. The association will also frame the rules and a code of conduct, so that uniformity is maintained in all the tournaments conducted by it. This was disclosed to World Sikh News by Harbajhan Singh Gill, a well-known soccer coach at Yuba City. Gill has been the motivating factor for this organization as he happens to be its Organizing Secretary.
The Adhoc Committee is as follows: Nirmal Singh Gill and Balbir Singh Dhillon (Fresno), Harbhajan Singh Kalkat and Surinder Singh (Livingston), Mohinder Singh Gill, Lakhwinder Lakhi and Ruby Purewal (Turlock), Guryinder $, Dhaliwal (San Joaquin), Gogi Purewal.and Makhan Singh Bassi (Vallejo), Kulwinder Singh Dhanta and Iqbal Singh (San Jose), Harbajhan Singh Gill and Ranjit Singh Johal (Yuba City).
Some more sports personalities are likely to be inducted in the near future.
The first meeting is due to take place in the library hall of historic Gurdwara Sahib Stockton. World Sikh News will be the host for this meeting on Saturday, January 16, at 11:00 a.m.
All members are expected to be present in full force.
