Lahore — The Special Court, Punjab, holding trial of Gajinder Singh and four other accused in the hijacking case of an Air India plane in September, 1981, met here this morning.
The accused submitted before the court that they had nominated Mr. S. M. Zafar, Khwaja Sultan Ahmen, Mr. Waseem Sajjad and Dr. Abdul Basit as defence counsel. They further submitted that they had already held preliminary meetings with the defense team, except Mr. S. M. Zafar who is presently abroad. Chaudhary Ejaz Ahmed, who appeared on behalf of Mr. Zafar, said that Mr. Zafar was expected to return by March 28.
On the request of the accused that they be allowed to see Mr. Zafar before the further proceedings, the court adjourned the hearing till March 30.
Meanwhile, the Special Court through an order under Section 22 of the Punjab Press and Publications Ordinance of 1963, banned the publication of any proceedings or excerpts thereof in any paper or book except to | the extent expressly per; mitted by the court-APP.
