Chandigarh — The hooligans joined the Funeral procession of Kishan Lal Manchanda and reportedly started attacking innocent Sikh passersby, cars and scooters were burnt. Once again police and paramilitary personnel turned their backs to a miniature repetition of Delhi riots.
Army had to be deployed to control the situation. Curfew has been imposed in Chandigarh and all educational institutions have been closed.
Traders all over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh observed herbal in protest against the killing of Manchanda. The situation is very tense and Army units have intensified patrolling in all Punjab towns.
