Madras — Tamil guerrillas killed 134 Sri Lankan soldiers in an assault on an Army camp and a subsequent ambush last week, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) claimed here on Thursday.
An LTTE press release said a guerrilla assault unit broke through the defense barriers of the camp at Kokillai, Mullaitivu. District, early on February 13 and in a fierce, five-hour battle, killed 106 soldiers and seriously wounded 25 others. The LTTE lost 16 dead and nine others were injured.
A military convoy rushing reinforcements to Kokillai was ambushed at Nayaru with land mines which killed another 28 soldiers the press release Said.
