India: The police have recovered Rs. 29 lakh, a part of the Rs. 5.70 corer looted from a branch of Punjab National Bank at Ludhiana in the recent past, three handcuffs, and arms and ammunition from different places during raids carried out following clues provided by Dalip Singh.
Newly appointed jathedar of Gurdwara Keshgarh Sahib during the Sarbat Khalsa at Amritsar, Dalip Singh was arrested in a raid in Jullundur Cantt area on November 21.
Police sources said that Rs. 15 lakh was recovered on disclosure allegedly made by Dalip Singh which he had buried at a well side in village Sarinh under Nakodar police station in two plastic drums. An amount of Rs. 3.10 lakh was earlier found on his person when Dalip Singh was arrested.
The police also allegedly recovered three handcuffs and 22 cartriges of .32 bore from Assa Singh of Bandala Mahi in Hoshiarpur police station area.
Police sources said that Dalip Singh, who carried a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head, was reportedly given Rs. 1.5 corer out of the booty to keep in safe custody.
