Amritsar — The Akali Dal President, Mr. Harchand Singh Longowal, has reportedly said that as the ‘“‘dictator’’ of the Akali Dal morcha he accepted responsibility for the circumstances which led to the Army action in the Golden Temple.
Other Akali leaders including the SGPC president, Mr. G.S. Tohra, and the former chief minister, Mr. P.S. Badal, were only acting under his instructions and hence they could not be held responsible for such circumstances, according to Mr. Longowal.
According to some Akali leaders who met Mr. Longowal recently in jail in Udaipur, he conveyed his views to an adviser of the Punjab Governor who met him there.
