JAMMU: The functioning of all the government offices, including the Civil Secretariat, continued to remain paralyzed for the last six days in the Jammu region due to the employees strike in support of their demands.
The employees were demanding interim relief of Rs 100, mergcrof20% DA with the basic pay, time bound promotions and restoration of leave travel concession.
The pen-down and tool-down strike by the employees was started on January 5 in the government offices, while it began on January 8 in the Civil Secretariat.
A spokesman of the low paid employee’s federation said that strike would continue till January 12 in general government offices, while it would continue up to January 15 in the Civil Secretariat.
Officers of the state government were themselves attending phone calls and handling other important business in the Civil Secretariat and other government offices, official sources said.
The subordinate staff has also disconnected the intercoms.
