CHICAGO: Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago an organization devoted to promotion of Punjabi culture and performing arts in metropolitan Chicago area organized a dinner and dance program “Aao Nachiye” on Dec. 17 at Viceroy of India Banquet Hall in Lombard, Illinois.
The program was sold out two weeks in advance and slightly over 400 attended the party due to limited space. It was also the inauguration banquet for P.C.S. where its logo was unveiled by the chief guest Dr. Surjit Singh Patheja of Valparaiso Indiana, and the executive committee and the board members were introduced. Dr. Gurbachan Singh Kapoor, Dr. Amarjit Singh Bhasin, Dr. Gurdial Singh Basran, Dr. Robert Singh, Dr. Kuldip Singh Lull, Navdeep Singh Walia and Lakhwant Singh Komal were recognized for their sponsorships. An extravagant Punjabi Fashion Show, modeled by the beautiful young ladies of the community was coordinated by Baboo Rehal that charmed the audience. Punjabi songs were rendered by Balbir Kaur, Parmi Gill, Harjinder Khaira and Mini & Bini Bosati.
Malor Singh Mauji recited Punjabi poetry. Simi Gill and Rosy Mullani, Amy & Aman Sinan performed done numbers. A youth gap directed by Thakar Singh Basati performed Bhangra dance item. Orchestra music Was provided by Chandrakant Williamson, Mohammad Ali and party. The audience danced 10 DIC DJ. music of Tosha Chokkar till 1 a.m. lo celebrate the bygone 1994 and to welcome 1995. Many electronic appliances were raffled off to make it a real fun fair.
The P.C.S. annual vaisakhi program “Rangla Punjab ’95” was also announced to be held on April 1, 1995 at Center East Auditorium in Skokie, Illinois. (Provided by: Rajinder Singh Mago)
