CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal president, Parkash Singh Badal, rejected the organizational set up of the party unilaterally announced by Ashok Singh Bagrian on June 4.

Bagrian had announced the 65member working committee, parliamentary board and disciplinary action committee, besides the district presidents, as convener of the three member subcommittee set UP to sort out the organizational affairs. All other Leaders have already rejected the new set up “addressing a news conference here, he said the replacement would be announced within a week after consulting the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president.

some deep rooted conspiracy behind the announcement which he described as a blunder on the part of Mr, Bagrian, However, he refused to collaborate. He said Bagrianaction had caused a big set back to the panth. Badal clarified that Bagrian was only authorized to convene meeting ofthis subcommittee which has Tohra and Wadala as members. He said Bagrian, who was not even a primary member of the Akali Dal, had gone a step further by appointing himself as convener of the parliamentary board and the disciplinary action committee. ‘When pointed out that Bagnan had taken into confidence the Akal Takht acting Jathedar, Manjit Singh, before making the unilateral announcement, he said Manjit Singh had withdrawn from the scene after the setting up of the nine member unity committee, He refused to be drawn into controversy about the role of Manjit Singh. He said he would discuss the issue of retaining Bagrianas the convener with ‘Tohra. He said the basic issue was the unity of the Badal and Amritsar factions which was complete.
