NEW DELHI: Even as the Congress made it clear that it has no proposal “at the moment” to enter into an alliance or an adjustment of seats in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next elections, the party attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its “politics of deceit and falsehood.”
Spokesperson V.N. Gadgil said that what the BJP had done (by supporting the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh) was consistent with its “politics of deceit Contrary to the BJP’s stand that it would “go all alone” to the BJP it has been entering into electoral alliances and seat adjustments with other parties.
Gadgil recalled that the BJP had entered into an adjustment with the Maltarashtrawadi Gomantak Party” (MGP) in Goa, Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and now, with the, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh. Even in the recent Rajya Sahba biennial elections in Assam, the party had an understanding with the Asam Gana’ Parishad (AGP), he remarked.
All this, he said, showed that the BJP never abided by its commitment to the people. The Samajwadi Party Bahujan Samaj Party (SPBSP) had got the mandate in Uttar Pradesh but the BJP had broken it by extending its support to the BSP. Mr, Gadgil made it clear that the Congress has no. proposal “at the moment” to enter into alliance or adjustment of seats in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next elections.
