NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao last week called for cooperation between India and China to neither strengthen global peace and development even as Beijing emphatically said that “nor force” could separate the two countries.
Mr. Rao’s observations came while receiving the visiting chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, Mr. Qiao Shi, who hoped for greater economic cooperation between India and China.
During his call on Mr. Patil, Mr. Qiao said no force can separate India and China.” The Chinese leader, who is third in the Chinese political hierarchy, is the first chairman of the National People’s Congress to visit India since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.
