NEW DELHI: The Chief of the Army Staff, General Shankar Roy Chowdhury, last week, defended deployment of Armed Forces in internal security tasks, saying that most of the so-called” internal problems in when present siwation have external roots.
While performing internal security jobs, the Army personnel were in fact fighting foreign forces as most of the troubles originated outside the country, Gen Roy Chowdhary said, making an indirect reference to the Kashmir situation.
He said that internal security and external threats were interrelated in the present scenario, it was the duty of the army to perform significant role in tackling the problems that the country was facing at the moment, the Army Chief said.
