NEW DELHI: The Government this week promised in the Rajya Sabha to table the Vora Committee report on the nexus between politicians and criminals in the House so as to enable the Members to have a full discussion ‘on the subject.

‘The Government’s assurance came in the wake of noisy protests by members over criminalization of politics manifesting in the tandoor murder, forcing Chairperson K, R. Narayanan to adjourn the House of half an hour.

Narayanan adjourned tie House after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) incised on its demand for the suspension of Question Hour so that a discussion on the Naina Sahni murder case and the nexus between politicians and criminals could be discussed by the Members. Even after Narayanan gave the ruling that the matter did not justify suspension of Question Hour, the BJP Members persisted with their demand.

The House witnessed an exchange of angry remarks between the section of the Treasury benches and the BJP with some of the ruling party Members taking objection to the charges hurled at them and making it clear that they too wanted a discussion on the nexus between criminals and politicians.
