NEW DELHI: The Court of Inquiry investigating the crash of the Super king Beechcraft airplane of the Punjab Government which resulted in the death of a former Governor, Surendra Nath, and his family on July 9, 1994, has reportedly held “pilot error” as the main cause of the crash, well-placed sources in the Civil Aviation ministry have said.

The court has also recommended that a committee of senior civil aviation and defense officials monitor the working of state government planes so that accidents are averted.

Sources, however, indicated that ‘since the pilot had also perished along with Surendra Nath’s family, there was no question of any judicial inquiry against anybody, “All the Court has done is to suggest corrective methods,” the source said.
