Dear Mr. Chayan, Re: Abduction of Mr. Jaswant Singh Khalra Human Rights Activist
Mr. Jaswant Singh Khalraa prominent and well Respected Human rights activist of Shromani Akali Dal (HR Wing) has been abducted by Punjab Police. As per family members, neighbors and other eye witnesses Mr. Khalra was forcibly dragged into a van bearing registration no. “DNA 5969” on September 6, 1995 at about 9:10 AM by uniformed Punjab Police personnel. It is a matter of utmost concern to Sikhs and other fellow Canadians here that a Human Rights Activist of Mr. Khalra’s status whom Canadian members of parliament have heard on more than one ‘occasion has to face brutality from the hands of law Protectors of Punjab. It is unbelievable that the world’s largest democracy has no freedom of speech as proves this deplorable incident. While on the subject, it is worth bringing to your attention that as Per family members of Mr. Khalra, Mr, Ajit Singh Sandhu, SS.P_ Taran Taran has threatened Mr, Khalra who was the author of a report about 25,000 unidentified bodies that had disappeared.
In view of the above we strongly urge you to immediately and stop harming Mr. Khalra physically. Let the law of the land run the country and not the police. People of Indian will be unable to justify the democracy being participated in India to their fellow Canadians.
