WASHINGTON: The US power giant Enron Power Corporation has formally agreed to resume work on the $2.5 billion Dabhol power project in Maharashtra within 90 days, a company official said.
This follows the American multinational’s agreement to cut the cost of the electricity the huge project will provide to the state, the official said.
Resuming work at Dabhol in 90 days is our goal, assuming that our lenders, the governments of Maharashtra and India agree, Enron spokeswoman Carol Hensley said.
“The project will still provide a very economic return for our shareholders as well as provide competitively priced power for Maharashtra,” the New York ‘Times quoted another Enron spokeswoman Diane Baselines as saying.
