CHANDIGARH: Nine of the 12 districts in Punjab have been declared as “disturbed” for another six months while 26 people including eight militants and four members of a family were killed in the state since Friday night.

The districts which have been declared “disturbed” are Amritsar Gurdaspur Ferozepore Ropar Bhatinda Patiala Ludhiana Sangrur and Faridkot. Over the week 95 persons lost their lives.

Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces near Amma Khurd village in Amritsar district Saturday night. Weapons including a sten gun and a stick bomb were seized from the spot.

Militants kidnapped an industrialist Sartish Kapur from his woolen mill in the Ludhiana city a petrol pump owner Kishan Chand in village Sathiala in Gurdaspur district and a medical store owner Harinder Singh from his shop in the Gobind Nagar area of Amritsar city.

Four members of a family were gunned down in village Hasanmunda in Jalandhar district. The victims were identified as Sadhu Singh his wife his son Mohinder Singh and his wife.

Three suspected militants were shot dead allegedly as a result of inter-gang rivalry near Tarn Taran A special police officer was also shot dead in Pakhohe area of Amritsar dist.

Three bullet ridden bodies were found buried in some fields in village Dugri in Amritsar district police said. Identifying those killed as Ajit Singh Sucha Singh and Dilbagh Singh police said it appeared to be a case of inter-gang rivalry.

The body of Amarjit Singh attached as a gunman to a rural Congress-I leader was found in village Pakhoke in Amritsar district.

A Nirankari Ajmer Singh was shot dead by militants in Kirti Kishore village in Sangrur district

A couple identified as Pritam Singh and Gumam Kaur was gunned down in village Dhanni Shahid in Ferozepore district.

Militants shot dead two people Mukhtiar Singh and his sister Ranjit Kaur in village Ganauri in Sangrur district and another person Ram Singh in Ahmedgarh area of the district.

A teacher Darshan Lal was killed and his son and a girl were injured by militants in Mokhampura locality of Amritsar.

Militants kidnapped two persons Mohinder Singh and Naranjan Singh from village Kattian Wali in Faridkot district Friday night and shot them dead Saturday morning.

Head constable Joga Singh and special police officer Pargat Singh of Adampur police station were shot dead near village Padiana in Jalandhar district while one Darshan Singh was gunned down in Mokhampur village of Amritsar district.

Militants kidnapped a son of a former head priest of Akal Takht Giani Kirpal Singh while 17 persons including principal of a private nursing institute and eight militant’s one of them “Lt Gen” of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) were killed in the northern Indian state of Punjab and Haryana since Tuesday night.

Over the week 95 persons lost their lives An Amritsar report received Wednesday night said G.S.Randhawa principal of a private nursing institute was gunned by militants at his home in east Mohan Nagar locality here.

The assailants escaped on a motor cycle police said.
