Punjab: A Senior leader of the newly formed All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF-Pre- sodium)  Baldev Singh Hotian, and four militants were among 10 persons killed Oct.27.

A police official escaped an attempt on his life and one person ‘was kidnapped in other incidents in the border state, where militants have been fighting for an independent homeland Khalistan.

Hotian, a senior Federation leader and one of the five presidium members, was gunned down by Black Cats after they reportedly had tea with him at his residence in Cheretta near the Golden Temple city of Amritsar early Sunday.

Thirty-six persons, including Dr. Bachittar Singh director health services and 13 militants were killed 0ct.26.

Militants shot dead one Sahib Singh and injured another at Phillaur in Jalandhar district 061.26.

The injured identified as Makhan Singh was admitted to nearby hospital, police said.

A gang of militants fired indiscriminately at Dr.Bachittar Singh and his colleagues, as they were leaving the Gurdwara, killing them instantly .The militants fled in one of the jeeps of the health department, police said.

Dr.Bachitar Singh had organized “path” in the Gurdwara and its Bhog ceremony had taken Place. He had not received any threat and there were no security ‘guards with him at the time of the incident, police added.

Among the victims were the chief pharmacist, Dr.Gurmej Singh, a senior pharmacist, Amarjit Kaur, the steno of the chief medical officer, Amritjit Pal Singh, drivers, Mohan Singh and Jiwan Kumarand another person.

Former president of the Ludhiana unit of the All India Sikh Students federation (A.I.S.S.F) Jagwinder Singh was among the killed police said here Saturday.

Jagwinder Singh was shot dead rear the railway station by two men while he was going to his village Kila Raipur in Ludhiana district.

Sham Lal Singhal, a junior engineer of the Punjab state Electricity board (P.S.E.B) posted at Malerkotla was shot dead and his brother in law, Ved Parkash critically injured when militants fired at them in the civil lines area of Patiala city, police said,

Twenty-nine persons, including 13 militants and five security men, were killed in strife-tom northern Indian state of Punjab since Wednesday night.

Militants wanted by the Punjab police, was killed in an encounter with security forces at village Sham Khera in Faridkot district Oct.24, Faridkot district police chief, Swaran Singh told PTI on telephone.

He said the encounter lasted for two hours in which two accomplices of Labh Singh escaped while he himself was killed.

Two para military Central Re- serve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers were killed in an ambush and the superintendent of policy (City), Hardeep Singh Dhillon escaped unhurt in two successive attempts on his life by militants in the Sultan wind locality of Amritsar Oct.24, police said.

The CRPF soldiers were killed when four militants attacked a patrolling party in Tej Nagar in Amritsar Oct.24. The soldiers were identified as Naik Dharam Singh and Constable Sada Nand of the 18th CRPF battalion. The militants took away a self-loading, rifle of the killed security man.

Twenty four people I ncluding 10 militants and   three. Security personnel, were killed Oct.24.

Security forces shot dead three unidentified militants in an en- counter near Zira in Ferozepur district Thursday afternoon. Some arms and ammunition was recovered from the spot, police said here,

An   unidentified bullet ridden body was recovered near Narpur village in Batala district early Thursday.

Lt Gen Jaswinder Singh alias Jaj and two other top militants of the outlawed militant outfit Babbar Khalsa international were killed in an encounter in Tam Taran district Thursday.

Jaj carried a reward of about R.s 1.5 million and was wanted in ‘connection with over 100killings in the region.

Deputy inspector general of police, border range, R.S.Chalia said the three Babbar Khalsa militants were killed in a shootout in Jallowal village. Apart from Jaswinder Singh, the two others were identified as Mangal Singh, area commander and Charan Singh alias Channa.

A listed militant of the Khalistan Commando Force (Zaffarwal) Shamsher Singh alias Kaka was killed in an encounter with police near Dhaula village in Ludhiana district Wednesday night, Police said he was wanted for about 40, killings in Ropar and Ludhiana districts.

A Punjab police head constable, Hamek Singh, was killed and five Security personnel -Were injured in a landmine explosion near Safipur village in Patiala district. While they were patrolling  the area.

Paramilitary home guard Gurcharan Singh was shot dead by militants in Ugoke village in Sangrur district.

Militants also shot dead Hardev Singh and his son Tehal Singh, in Injhera Wali village in Bathinda district and a salesman at liquor vend in Ralla village in same district.

Constable Mohinder Singh and Ranbir Singh and Sukha Singh were gunned down by militants in Tatha Ulle Khan Village in Ferozepur district.

Two militants were Killed, allegedly in integrant warfare near Khasala village in Amritsar dis- wick, An unidentified militant was killed in a shoot-out near Dhole village in Ludhiana district. An AK-47 rifle, three magazines and some ammunition were recovered from the spot.

Elsewhere, in Punjab, another bank building was set afire while 12 persons, including seven militants, were killed since Mon- day night, the police added.

NEW DELHI: Work came to standstill in banks here following ‘a one-day strike call by the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), demanding Carly release of a senior bank manager Kidnapped by militants in the northern Indian state of Kashmir ‘on September 9.

‘Striking bank officials submitted ‘a memorandum to the union home minister S.B Chavan called for his personal intervention to seek the release of K .C Gupia, manager of Punjab national bank at Dal gate, Srinagar, from the militants.
