NEW DELHI, India: Indian Chief of Army, General K Sunderji, and about 60 generals are currently holding a very important meeting outside Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab to devise a strategy to counter an attack by Pakistan, Khaleej Times reported quoting Defence sources who spoke on condition they be not named.

Meanwhile, the biggest military exercises by the Indian armed forces near the Pakistan border are to begin from November 15 after the meeting of Indian Generals concludes. The major maneuvers of the Indian armed forces will last four months, an unusually long time.

“If this is an exercise routine one.” an Indian Army spokesman told the Associated Press of America (APA) in New Delhi. The exercises are being held in Punjab and Occupied Kashmir.

Routine exercises involving the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force also began last Monday in Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Indian Ocean.

Another report confirms: The biggest ever joint exercises in recent years by the Indian Army and Air Force de named “Brass tack” are due to be held in Punjab and Rajasthan sectors later this month, says a report from Chandigarh.

‘The military manoeuvres which are stated to be more than routine exercises held during this time of the year annually have resulted in the cancellation and rescheduling of a number of trains in the western sector.

Sources in the Railways Department confirmed that more than 50 military “Specials’ will be passing through Ambala with troops and equipment and heading for the exercises area.

Pakistan has been informed that the large troop movement was for training purpose. Officials here, however, said that it was only for the purposes of exercises “Brass tack”.
