New Delhi: Government of India has initiated belated action against the rioters who went on a_ rampage against the Sikhs from November 1-4. Thousands of Sikhs were brutally murdered, property looted and girls assaulted. 50,000 Sikhs were rendered homeless refugees.
So far 60 arrests have been made. The arrested mainly belong to the menial class who were reportedly hired by Congress (I) high-ups. No Congress (I) leader indicted in the report released by People’s Union for Civil Liberties has been arrested. On the contrary, H. K. L. Bhagat who is said to be chief architect of the holocaust prominently figures in the new cabinet.
