JAMMU: Five additional battalions of troops have been deployed in Doda district for flushing out militants, whose activities in recent months have kicked up communal violence.

Already one battalion of the Army was stationed in the district. Reports say one brigade has been deployed to carry out search operations in the upper reaches of Doda while another is meant to curb militant activities in the Ramban-B anihal belt. In addition, one DIG of the BSF has been entrusted with the task of supervising anti-insurgency operations in Kishtwar and another DIG, the Bhaderwah belt. A DIG of the CRPF is stationed in Doda to monitor the activities of militants and order immediate search operations.
