CHANDIGARE: Six persons were killed and 12 freedom fighters and their harbourers arrested in Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Gunmen shot down one person in Mohi village in Ludhiana. The victim was identified as Pandit Ram Gopal Singh alias Nihang. In another incident, Harbans Singh, a cousin of Si Sher Singh, was shot down by two gunmen.

The police said the gunmen had actually come in search of the sub inspector. When told by his cousin that he was not at home, the gunmen opened fire, killing Harbans Singh on the spot.

One person, identified as Satnam Singh was clubbed to death with a lathi as Manr Nabha village in Bhatinda district on Saturday.
