SRINAGAR: Twenty eight people, including three militants and a security man, were killed while militants made an abortive bid to blow up a bride on the Srinagar Jammu national highway, in Kashmir.

The Kadibal Bridge, near Pampore, was partially damaged in a bomb blast Friday morning. A policeman on duty there was killed.

Security men arrested 41 suspected subversives from different parts of the valley and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition from them.

Army and paramilitary forces arrested 33 suspected subversives from the saffron rich Pampore and adjoining Kadibal village in a house to house search.

The search was launched after militants overpowered a head constable and subsequently killed him and planted a bomb under the bridge.
