JAMMU: Over the week 25 people, including a bank manager were killed in different parts of the Kashmir valley while security forces seized more arms and ammunition from near the Indo Pakistan border.

The branch manager of the Jammuand Kashmir bank at Amirakadal, Avtar Krishan Saffya, who was shot by militants at his residence in Habbakadal locality of downtown Srinagar on Wednesday night, succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The spokesman said the bullet ridden body of one Dayaram Koul of Varipora village in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was recovered by security forces on Thursday.

Two border security force personnel, who were injured in exchange of fire between militants and security forces in Baramulla and Anantnag in the past three days, succumbed to their injuries. However, these deaths were not officially confirmed.

According to unofficial reports from Kupwara town in North Kashmir a policeman and a civilian were killed when security forces exchanged fire with subversives in the town. Several people were also injured in the exchange of fire, the reports said.

Meanwhile, an executive magistrate, whose name was not disclosed, recorded here the confessional statement of the five alleged abductors of Dr. Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of federal home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Rubaiya had identified her kidnapers before the magistrate two days ago.

Avtar Singh Khalsa, president of Manjit faction of the All India Sikh Students Federation, Jammu and Kashmir unit, was attacked by some masked youth near the Nanaknagar gurdwara in Jammu.

Khalsa has been admitted to a hospital police said.

Five Ak-47 rifles, 21 magazines and 492 rounds of Ak-47, seven pistols and 254 rounds, two revolvers, three country made revolvers with 74 rounds, 48 hand grenades, 57 high grade explosive slabs, two rockets and four anti-personnel mines have been seized from the encounter site.
