MORADABAD,INDIA(PTI): At least 21 persons, including four school teachers and 16 children, were killed and more than 25 injured, seven of them critically, when the roof of a three storied school building collapsed. in Babaryan locality in the northern Indian township here Feb.13.

Earlier, a report had said that at least 50 persons were feared killed in the accident, which according to police, occurred due to “weak foundation” of the school building.

The report had said the roof had caved in soon after an explosion.

According to the district magistrate, V.N.Garg, more than five persons were still trapped in under the debris and efforts were on to rescue them.

Meanwhile, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the mishap and the district authorities have announced an excreta payment of Rs.10,000 to the families of those killed and Rs.500 to Rs.1000 to the injured.
