ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) suffered a setback when 14 party activists, including a former member of the Provincial assembly, formally decided to join the National People’s Party (NPP) led by caretaker prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi.

Ghulam Rasool Unar, former legislator, and 13 others have communicated their decision to Jatoi, Reports here said.

‘Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has said that she was doubtful about the forthcoming elections being free and fair under the present government set up.

During a visit to her constituency Bhutto told a gathering at her hometown Larkana that to ensure impartial elections, the president should appoint the speaker of the dissolved national assembly at the interim prime minister and speakers of all the four provincial assemblies as chief ministers till the polls,

Bhutto said dismissal of her government was a conspiracy against the people of Pakistan. She repeated that the President’s decision was illegal and unconstitutional and allegations levelled against her government totally unfounded.

She said her party had given ‘over 26,000 jobs to unemployed poor persons, these were sought to be revoked by the present government, she charged
