New Delhi: Musical and dance performances, theatre and other cultural programs marked the celebrations of the 131st birth anniversary celebrations of Gurdev Rabindranath Tagore in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

A litterateur par excellence, Tagore won the coveted Nobel Prize for literature for his book “Gitanjali” in the year 1913.

Rich tributes were paid to Gurdev Rabindranath Tagore on his 131st birth anniversary throughout the eastern Indian state of West Bengal.

The main program was Organized at the ancestral house of Tagore at Jorasanko in north Calcutta where hundreds of people, defying the scorching sun, patiently waited in a serpentine queue to have a look at the Rabindra bharati museum where the personal belongings of Tagore were displayed,

Reports from Japan said that admirers of Rabindranath Tagore and scholars of Tagore literature also celebrated the poets 131st birthday in Japan. In Bangladesh rich tributes were paid to Rabindranath Tagore on his 131st.
