JAMMU (PTI): As many as (290 people-105) of them militants and 29 securitymen were killed last month in India’s northern most state of Jammu and Kashmir, where Pak-trained Muslim militants are fighting for secession from India.

Eight militants, who were-trying: to sneak into India from Pakistan occupied Kashmir, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the curfew-bound five-km border belt in north Kashmir, an official spokesman said.
A militant was killed and a securitymen wounded in a gun battle during operations at Helmatpora in Kupwara.
In another encounter between the parliamentary border security forces and the civilians at Batmaloo in Srinagar on Tuesday, five persons including two BSF men, were killed while 10 others were wounded.
