WASHINGTON, DC: The Sikh “nation enjoyed a great victory yesterday when the Young Republicans National Federation unanimously passed a resolution calling for Khalistan’s liberation from Indian occupation. The Young “Republicans, who represent GOP Members under the age of 40 and “are the future of the party, passed “the resolution at the conclusion of their five day annual convention. The text of the resolution reads, “the Sikhs of Khalistan, like all Peoples of all nations, have the fight to independence; that the independence of Khalistan as declared by leadership of the Sikh nation on October 7, 1987, should be honored by the Indian government with the immediate removal Of all occupying forces from the “soil of Khalistan…” The resolution further demands that the “United States should suspend developmental aid to India until such conditions are me.”

The new resolution may help gamer Congressional support for H. Con. Res. 134, which calls for a U.N.-sponsored plebiscite in Khalistan so that the Sikh nation “may determine for themselves, under fair and peaceful conditions, “their political future.” Currently the resolution has the support of 16 bipartisan co-sponsors.

“Worlds Support for Khalistan is growing every day,” said Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President

Council of Khalistan. “Support from the Young Republicans today, means more support from the GOP leadership of tomorrow. The Indian disinformation machine cannot counter the truth that India is a conglomerate of nations held together by the nexus of oppression.”

Indeed the resolution cites many failures.in Indian “democracy.” It names India’s ban on Amnesty International in the Sikh homeland, the draconian Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act, and the Over 41,000 cash rewards that India a wanted to police officials from 1991 to 1993 for the killing of so-called Sikh “militants.” “

On behalf of the Sikh Nation, I would like to thank the Young Republicans for recognizing Khalistan, America is the beacon of hope and freedom for people the world over. Today America has shown once again that it is the champion of freedom, democracy, and self-determination.”

Presented by John Mc-Dowell, Chairman Issues and Resolutions Committee. Meeting presided by Try Bisnov, Chairman Young Republicans National Federation. Resolution passed unanimously on July 17, 1994 at the Young Republican Leadership Conference.
