SAN FRANCISCO: For over two hours the street outside the Indian consulate here resounded with Khalistan Zindabad and other pro-Sikh and anti-India slogans. The occasion this June 6 was the 7th anniversary of that blackest day in Sikh history when India invaded the holy Harmandir Sahib destroyed the Akal Takht and murdered 20000 innocent Sikh pilgrims most of them women and children. On June 6, 1984, 40 other Sikh holy places were attacked and desecrated as well.
Sikhs wearing black or saffron turbans came from all over California started gathering in a park adjacent to the consulate at 1 p. m Ardas was said and blessings sought from the Almighty for the Sikh struggle for a homeland Khalistan and independence from the Hindu state of India.
Over a dozen Sikh leaders took their tum at the microphone in leading the 400 strong groups in raising slogans. S Gurcharan S Dhillon W.S.O president and S Gurtej Singh president of the Sikh Youth of America did a commendable job in making the demonstration a grand success.
Dhillon warned the Indian government to stop its crimes against Sikhs. He said that Sikhs always re-paid their debts and the price India would have to pay for its atrocities against Sikhs would cost India dearly. The crowd enthusiastically responded with Jo bole so Nihal Sat Sri Akal.
Slogans praising late Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale Bhai Amrik Singh and General Shubey Singh who laid down their lives this day seven years ago defending the Faith and the Akal Takht were raised loud and long.
Every area with a sizeable Sikh population was represented Yuba City Los Angeles Fremont Fresno Bakersfield San Jose Stockton among others.
Dr Gurinder S$ Grewal President World Sikh News asked the consulate staff to warn its masters in Delhi that the Sikh nation was soon going to settle its accounts with them.

Two young Sikh boys who attracted everyone’s attention by their enthusiastic participation were S Mahipaul Singh of Fremont and S Ranjit Singh Khalsa of Yuba City.
Two young girls sang the Sikh national anthem The Fremont sangat provided langar which was served to from the back of a pick-up.
WASHINGTON D.C.: A demonstration was held on June 1, 1991 the protest started at Lafayette Park (in front of the White House) and ended at the Indian Embassy.
An estimated of 250 Sikhs participated in the demonstration. The participants were over 80 from the Garden State Sikh Association of Bridgewater and Sri Guru Singh Sabha Glenrock Chicago Florida North Carolina Virginia _ and Maryland. Most of the participants: were the Sikh Youth free Kashmir and Assam. Amongst those who addressed the gathering were Dr.Rajwant Singh of Guru Gobind Singh Foundation of Maryland Dr.Gurmit Singh Aulakh of the Council of Khalistan Dr.Kamaljeet Kaur Sethi of the Sikh Broadcasting Corp. of Washington D.C. and Jatinder Singh Sabharwal.
Most of the demonstrators that were present throughout the whole demonstration were soaked from the pouring rain.
CHICAGO: The Sikh community of greater Chicago assembled in front of Indian Consulate Office June 61991 at 3:30 p.m. The call was given by Sikh Religious Society of Chicago and World Sikh Organization to stage a Peaceful demonstration to protest the desecration of Sikh Shrines and killings of innocent pilgrims by Indian Army on June 6,1984. About 100 protestors drew the attention of thousands of passers bys towards the state terrorism of India let loose on Sikhs and other minorities of India by distributing leaflets. They also raised slogans like Indian democracy just a hoax’ ‘Abuser of Human demonstration Peace fully ended at 5 p.m. with Jaikareas of ‘Deg TEg Fateh’ Panth ki Jeet’ ‘Raj.
Later a memorandum was presented to the Consulate General of India with a Copy to Prime Minister and President with the concluding theme that under the situation and circumstances Sikhs have been left with no option other than accomplishing a homeland of their own
CHANDIGARH: According to Reports a partial to near total General strike was observed in the State Thursday on the call of the Akali Dal (Mann) and some Militant groups to commemorate the seventh anniversary of Operation Blue Star in the Golden temple complex at Amritsar in June 1984.
