LUDHIANA: Mr Simranjit Singh Mann President Shiromani Akali Dal assailed the Punjab Governor’s statement at Hussainiwala that there was no option before the government to deal with the “murderers of innocent people”
In a written statement Mr Mann said the Shiromani Akali Dal took serious note of the Statement of Gen O.P.Malhotra and observed that the Dal had always condemned the killing of innocent persons and wished to ask General Malhotra which law gave the administration the right to kill people whom he called “murderers”.
He said if his own logic is applied to the killings by the security forces then we ask why he has not had the Anny officers and the Jawans of the 4th Bihar Regiment killed because they too according to the Governor had killed six innocent farmers at Nathuke Burj. Then Brigadier Sinha had threatened the sarpanches and panches of Lopoke that the Army would segregate Sikh women put them in camps have them raped by Army men from Bihar and create a new breed that would be loyal to India. If we apply this logic to killing murderers then what fate should await Brigadier Sinha”.
The Akali Dal planned a protest march beginning from Fatehgarh Sahib. All Panthic Organisations would take part.
Mr Mann congratulated Mr Barjinder Singh Editor Ajit Jalandhar for returning the “Padamshri” and appealed to other Sikhs in government service or otherwise to return any state honors they had received in the face of naked aggression by the state against the Sikhs. Mr Barjinder Singh was a brave son of Punjab he said.
Mr Mann was also critical of the acceptance of a dish antenna and a swimming pool by the Press Club at Chandigarh. He appealed to the Press Club to refuse the presents from the state government.
