JAMMU: The Indian premier VP Singh will visit the volatile Jammu and Kashmir state in the first week of August.
According to a Janata Dal party release here Wednesday, the interior minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has asked’ the party to work out a programme of reception for the prime minister.
Meanwhile, Kashmir migrants Wednesday urged the Indian government to impress upon Pakistan at the forthcoming July 18 secretary level meeting that it desist from aiding and abetting militants in the Kashmir valley.
In a statement here, the Kashmiri Samiti, a welfare body representing the interests of Kashmir refugees in the capital, said Islamabad should also be told to immediately stop its vicious media campaign about the ongoing insurgency in the valley.
The Samiti feels that “Pakistan’s interference is the greatest obstacle in bring peace and prosperity in the region. This crisis shall remain there as long as Pakistan continues to aid militants in the valley,” the statement said.
It has also expressed it disappointment at the failure of the ‘National Front government to appoint a minister or agency which would be responsible for the rehabilitation of refugees.
