COLOMBO, July 15, Reuter: Two Indian soldiers were killed when Tamil guerrillas set off a landmine in northern Sri Lanka, military officials said on Friday.
They said Thursday’s blast occurred at Murukandy but could not give details.
Suspected Tamil rebels shot dead three men in eastern Ampara district on Wednesday, the officials said. The motive for the killing was not known.
Meanwhile residents in the northern town of Vavuniya said a buildup of Indian troops there had sparked rumor’s of a new offensive against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam guerrilla group.
