NEW DELHI: The Unlawful Activities (prevention) Tribunal, quashed the ban imposed on Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) by cancelling the Central Government’s January 14, 1995 notification outlawing the organization for the second time.
The tribunal, headed by Justice K. Ramamurthy, held that no sufficient ground was shown by the government for issuing the declaration, and it had failed to prove its case against the VHP. The Judge said, “the notification has been issued on extraneous considerations and I have no hesitation in cancelling it.”
