RANGAMATI, BANGLADESH, JUNE 6, REUTER — Tribal rebels have shot dead two Bengali set: tiers and set fire to more than a dozen houses in southern Bangladesh, officials said.
They said Shanti Bahini (peace force) guerrillas killed farmer Fazjul Hug amd his 50yearold sister in the Khagrachhrri district of the Chittagon Hill tracts on Sunday.
The rebels also torched more than a dozen tin and straw made houses before fleeing across the Indian border, one official told reporters.
‘According to official figures, more than 1,600 rebels, soldiers and civilians have been killed in the 15yearold insurgency.
