NEW DELHI, India A train slammed into a bus at a railroad crossing in the northeastern state of Assam Sunday, killing 19 people and injuring 53 others, the Press Trust of India reported.
The mishap occurred on the outskirts of the Assam state capital of Guahati, about 900 miles east of New Delhi, the domestic news agency said, quoting official reports.
19 bus passengers and injured 53 other people, including several passersby, the Press Trust said. So me train passengers were also slightly injured in the crash, it said.
The gate of the railroad crossing was open when the accident occurred, the news agency said.
