LUDHIANA: The SGPC chief, Mr. Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Oct. 17 opposed the deployment of Punjab commandos in Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
Mr, Tohra said that the Center had not given up its conspiracy against the Sikhs and the state government was a partner in this conspiracy. He said commandos of the Punjab police had been given training which was against all human values and appealed to all political panics to oppose their deployment in Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Tohra expressed apprehension that with the deployment of commandos, the Punjab police in Assam and Andhra Pradesh, the relations between the locals and the Sikhs would be strained.
Mr, Tohra supported the demand for the creation of Uttarakhand as he felt that this would help in the development of the hill areas.
The SGPC chief described as big fraud the election to the panchayat samit is and the zila parishads in Punjab.
