Dr. and Mrs. Joginder Singh Ghumman held a colorful engagement ceremony of their son Tejpaul with pretty Ashbira Grewal daughter of S. Bhagwinder Singh Grewal and Lajwinder Grewal, at their newly acquired palatial residence, situated at the top of the hills near San Jose. The scenic environment of the surroundings added glamour to the tastefully decorated house of Ghumman, A large number of distinguished personalities of North California responded to the invitation of the Ghummans. The engagement ceremony was performed in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib after the Bhog of Sehj Path.
After the ceremony the guests were entertained with sumptuous lunch. The famous Shene Punjab Cultural group provided melodious and colorful variety program. Some enthusiastic guests took the floor and thrilled the guests with their dancing skills.
Tejpaul Ghumman is currently a student of Vet Science at UC Davis. Dr. Ghumman who received his doctorate in Vet Pathology from U.C. Davis, was an Assistant professor of Vet Science at PAU Ludhiana before migrating to USA. He also taught for some time at Stanford University before starting his own vet practice, now the family is managing four vet clinics at different places in Bay area. His wife Mrs, Gurcharan Kaur Ghumman is the former principal of Master Tara Singh Degree College for women at Ludhiana. Their other son Mandeep is studying at U.C. Berekley at present.
The bride’s father is the son of a famous transporter of Calcutta S. Harchand Singh. The family originally belongs to the village Qila Raipur in district Ludhiana. S. Harchand Singh was also the founder of world known Qila Raipur rural sports. Now his son S. Bhagwinder Singh is maintaining the traditions of his family as the president of the sports meet. He is also managing the transport empire which his illustrious father established in early fifties at Calcutta.
