OSLO, Italy, Reuter: Italy, the 1982 World Champions, failed to avenge an embarrassing 1985 defeat by Norway when the two teams drew 00 in soccer friendly.
With both countries looking ahead to important flies in the European championship, the game was evenly balanced although there was little of the famous Italian sparkle in evidence.
Italy, who lost 21 to Norway’s mixture of exiled professionals and homegrown amateurs when they last met two years ago, had the edge in midfield.
TURIN, Italy: Said Aquita of Morocco smashed Ovett’s eight and a half year old two mile world best time, setting a new time of 8 minutes 13.45 seconds.
Aquita, the reigning 1’500 and 5,000 meter world champion, was making a guest appearance along with several other world class athletes at men’s athletics meeting between the Soviet Union and Italy in the northern Italian city of Turin.
His new time bettered the previous mark of 8:13.51 set by Ovett in London in September, 1978.
