SAN FRANCISCO: An impressive demonstration was staged by California Sikhs before the Indian Consulate on May 5, 1986 to Protest against the invasion of the Golden Temple by Indian
Commandos and Para Military troops, all the major Sikh organizations like W.S.O., International Sikh Youth Federation and Babbar Khalsa were represented in the protest in which nearly 300 Sikhs participated. The protestors raised slogans like, “Indian Army Quit Khalistan”, “Hands off Golden Temple”.
Indian Consul refused to accept the memorandum. The memorandum briefly recounted the Indian Government’s reasons for launching the attack and called upon the countries of the free world to come to the aid of Sikhs. The text of the Memorandum is as follows:
“The storming of the Golden Temple, Amritsar and about 24 other Sikh holy places by the Indian troops for the second time in two years has shocked the Sikhs everywhere. The attack is another blatant act of state terrorism. It has confirmed the Sikh apprehensions that they are targets of calculated extermination of the fascist Hindu government. There is no justice, equality or freedom for them, they are systematically targeted for total extermination through the state engineered Nazism.
On April 30th, six hundred commandoes supported by thousands of paramilitary troops at tacked unarmed and unresisting volunteers and pilgrims who were either engaged in the reconstruction of the sacred Akal Takhat destroyed during the 1984 attack or had come to offer their prayers, They killed seven,, wounded nearly 50 and arrested over 300 Sikh young men from the Golden Temple premises.
The Hindu Indian government is doing this repeatedly to deter and frighten the Sikhs from going to their temples, To cover it up the government machinery repeatedly spits out propaganda that Sikh temples are being used by terrorists. THE INDIAN GOVERN MENT IS REALLY TELLING THE TRUTH, WHY DOES NOT IT OPEN THE STATE OF PUNJAB TO FOREIGN JOUR NALISTS TO SEE THE TRUTH FOR THEMSELVES?
Sikhs in India are in a position far worse than that of the apartheid victims in South Africa. Their sad plight demands of the people of the free world to come to their aid and stop their calculated genocide and help them achieve deliverance from the shackles of an intolerant
Religious majority currently ruling India.”
