NEW YORK: The Sikh Cultural Society, New York, at its meeting ‘on May 4, 1986, strongly

Condemned the cowardly and shameful act of the Indian Government in sending commandos into the Golden Temple. The condemnation was done through a resolution which reads as follows:

Whereas the sanctity of the holiest shrine Golden Temple has been violated again on April 30, 1986, by the paramilitary forces,

Whereas many innocent Sikhs have been killed in the Golden Temple without any provocation,

The Sikh Cultural Society in its meeting of May 4, 1986, resolved: That the Society strongly

Condemns this cowardly and shameful act of both the Punjab Government and Government of India in sending the commandos into the Golden Temple.

‘The Society strongly condemns the killing of innocent Sikhs inside the Golden Temple and arresting hundreds of other innocent Sikhs.

The Society also holds the Indian Government solely responsible for the unrest and killings in Punjab. The Government has lost its credibility with the Sikhs for not implementing the terms of Rajiv Longowal agreement.

The Society will continue its support to Sikhs in India who are fighting for freedom from the communal and fascist forces currently ruling India.
