SAN FRANCISCO: Sikh and Kashmiri youth gathered in strength to hold a demonstration September 29 outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the venue of a. Hindu community fund raiser for their longtime friend in the US: Congress, Stephen Solarz.

Gurtej Singh President Sikh Youth of America said that the protest was very successful, ““Mr.Solarz had to use the back door to enter the hotel.” He said, Mr. Solarz had been instrumental in crushing the honest aspirations of the minorities in India as ‘Chairman of the Sub Committee on Foreign Affairs. Solarz even supported India’s Nuclear weapons program which would in all probability be used against the Kashmiris and Sikhs, S, Gurte Singh said, Such a man was’ dreaming of becoming the President of the USA, he added, The Election Commission records show that Solarz had received the: ‘most contributions for his election campaigns from Hindus which eventually was influence in: sending American tax payers moneys aid to the Repressive and. morally defined regime of India, he said.
  2. Gunej Singh urged Sikhs and. Kashmiris to wait to the President to have Solarz removed as chairman of the subcommittee on: foreign affairs. He thanked the ‘Sangat of El Sobrante, San Jose and Fremont as well as the Kashmir youth for making the ‘protest demonstration successful
