OXFORD, Ca: A fund raising for the U.S. Representative Mr. Robert Lagomarcino was held at Oxford, California by the Sikh community of Southern California. The Honorable Representative, Mr. Lagomarcinois contesting for an eighth consecutive term to the U.S. Congress from Ventura area just north of Los Angeles. The Honorable Lagomarcino is currently serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and thus commands a very good and thorough understanding of the affairs of South Asia — especially as it pertains to the Sikhs of Punjab. In his speech he referred to the sensitive balance of power in the South Asian region as the Soviet Union is exceedingly asserting its influence in the area directly, as in Afghanistan, or through its many proxy allies in the region. Master of Ceremonies was Sardar Jatinder Singh. The Honorable Representative Lagomarcino was introduced by Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, member of Council of Khalistan. Dr. Gurmit Singh enlightened the assembly on the current predicament faced by the Sikhs under the Indian Government’s oppressive regime.
