WASHINGTON DC: Longtime  supporters of Sikh causes Representatives Gary Condit of California and Dan Burton of Indiana | recently entered the views of their Supporters into the nation’s permanent history by bringing the Sikh issues to the fore front of Congress and entering the information into the Congressional record.

 On March 11 Dan Burton pointed out that the death warrant issued for Pakistani writer Sadiq Hussain was proposed by Punjab Youth Congress leader Mr. Romesh Single a Hindu who is a member Of the ruling Congress party and neither a Sikh nor a representative Of the Sikh religion.

 Inserting into the Record a press release authored by Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh Burton further noted that:

Pakistan is not our enemy. The tyrannical Indian government and the Congress party is our enemy. They are the ones brutally occupying our country; Khalistan. The Sikh nation wants independence and we will direct ourselves towards Khalistan and Nothing else.

 On March 17 Gary Condit told the speaker and other Congress members of the gratitude shown by the Sikhs worldwide for the Support that President Clinton has given to their cause.

Noting his own letter of Dece.27 1993 signed by 23 other congressmen Condit poke of the many supporting statements that Sikh leaders everywhere have issued.

He also entered into the Congressional Record the memorandum of Col. Pratap Singh of the Khalsa Raj Panty (previously published by WSN).

 He advised of the Akali Dal ‘Thanksgiving meeting in Ludhiana of Feb 16and the delegation march to the embassy in Delhi of Feb.21.

Rep Condit also remarked that the Indian press had taken notice of the President’s responses by publishing articles both positive and negative on the issue of Sikh Rights.
