CHANDIGARH, India: Security Forces in Punjab suffered a serious setback when four Punjab police officials Havaldar Ajit Singh, Constables Sardul Singh, Talwinder Singh and Balvinder Singh resigned from their jobs in protest against the practice of killing of innocent Sikh youth in fake encounters on the orders of the Punjab Police Chief, J.F. Ribeiro,
‘They announced that they were joining Khalistan Commando Force commanded by General Labh Singh, a close associate of Sant Jarnnail Singh Bhindranwale. The Photostat copies of their resignations were released to various news agencies in Amritsar.
Balwinder Singh belongs to village Minochail in Amritsar district and is reported to be a close relation of Bhai Gurbachan Singh Manochal, member of the Five Member Panthic Committee. All the four have separately accused Ribeiro of killing Sikh young men in false encounters. Constable Sardul Singh in his resignation letter stated that Sikhs who claim Anandpur Sahib to be their original home would keep on fighting against ‘Aurangzeb type oppression let loose by the Central Government of India, He said that he had resigned his job to join the Khalistan Commando Force.
Constable Balwinder Singh stated that he was inspired to take revenge against Ribeiro by the action of Sardar Beant Singh and Sardar Satwant Singh who had “executed Indira Gandhi for her criminal act of attacking the Golden Temple”.
Havaldar Ajit Singh stated that he had resigned because he was fed up with the communal politics of the government and also said that thousands of other police officials will shortly submit their resignations from their positions in the force, Constable Balwinder Singh of police training center at Phillaur stated that he had resigned to break the shackles of Sikh slavery in India, He charged that Sikhs were discriminated in every field of activity. He also stated that there was a conspiracy to implicate him in the murder of a Shiv Sena leader of Phillaur simply because he happened to be Bhai Gurbachan Singh Manochal’s elation. He explained that he was joining Khalistan Commando force and he would carry out any task assigned by General Sabh Singh. He further stated that all those police officials who were harassing and persecuting the Sikhs will be suitably punished, congratulating these brave Sikhs on their bold decisions Bhai Gurbachan Singh Manochal warned Rajiv Gandhi that serious consequences will follow if Karamjit Singh was tortured or liquidated.
