JAMMU, India: The Shiv Sena contesting the Assembly elections for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir is openly raising the slogan of Dogra land in the election campaign. Mr. Ashok Gupta Chief spokesman of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Shiv Sena in an interview said that we want Dogra Land. Jammu has been discriminated since Independence. We cannot bear this discrimination anymore. If there can be Nagaland, Mizoram why not a Dogra Land. Justifying the Dogra Land demand the Shiv Sena leader said the roots for the same were made on the basis of language and culture. We have our language and have different culture and we should have our own state. Mr. Gupta who holds Master’s degree in Commerce and is below 30 yrs. said that Jammu region has been receiving step motherly treatment during the last 40 years.
Recalling the period of Gulab Singh, the Maharaja of Jammu, the Shiv Sena leader said, Gulab Singh had acquired Kashmir and at that time Jammu was the master but today we are the servants.
We contribute equally to the economy of the State but all the benefits go to Kashmir and we get nothing. So we will have to fight for our rights and fight for the Dogra Land.
