Many Sikh Chiefs and Generals like Raja Dhian Singh, Sardar Attar Singh, etc. were jealous of one another. They were divided into groups and began to plan for ‘one another’s destruction. They threw the Sikh Empire to dogs for their own selfish motives. Any sensible Sikh can easily identify the similarity between the present Sikh situation and all the factors which lead to their down Singh and the disaster awaiting us if we let the things continue as they are.

It is therefore, high time that we should get rid of these negative factors such as religious fervor, unity and Gurmata.

I therefore, suggest that let us ‘once again call a World Sikh Conference, under the auspicious of WSO, or as a joint venture of all the important Sikh organizations. But instead of speech making this conference should concentrate on solid results such as:

  1. Reestablishing the institution of Gurmata after necessary modification to suit present conditions.
  2. Adopting rules for selection of a leader and then electing a leader according to these rules.
  3. Invite people to submit concrete proposals for helping our Sikh brothers in Punjab and counteract the anti-Sikh propaganda abroad,
  4. Only those people should be allowed to speak who have submitted beforehand their written practical proposals for achieving ‘our goals.
  5. Instead of selecting “leaders” on the basis of their speech making capability or financial soundness, select “Sewadars” in charge of ‘specific projects and specific missions with complete coordination between different wings and with the overall Sikh leader or “Mukh Sewadar”.

I will suggest that W.S.O. should take a lead and work with leaders of other organizations to arrange such a conference on a mutually agreeable agenda and terms and sharing of costs.
