Srinagar: Militants abducted a senior staff member of the federal government and attacked security forces in continuing violence in India’s turbulent Kashmir valley on Wednesday night. A.K. Dhar Director of the Regional Research Lab Rawalpora was abducted by activists of the Ikhwan-Ul-Muslimeen from Rawalpora while on his way to work a spokesman said.

Ikhwan-Ul-Muslimeen a pro-Pakistan militant group claimed responsibility for the act. Militants also made an attempt to kidnap a police officer at Banihal 125km from Srinagar. They failed when the officer raised an alarm and his neighbors came to his rescue.
