Chandigarh: Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi will visit Patiala on November 6 to lay the foundation of North Indian Cultural Center. The decision to construct this cultural center was taken during RajivLongowal accord. The function will be held in the old ‘Shish Mahal’ of Patiala. The Chief Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and J&K are expected to attend this function. This center will serve as a joint cultural institution of all these five states. It is estimated to cost 10 crores of rupees, out of which five will be given by the central government one crore each will be contributed by the five states. Tight security arrangements for the Prime Minister have already started. Security and intelligence agencies of the center reached Punjab. A separate bulletproof enclosure is being constructed for the Prime Minister. Nobody will be allowed to go near this special stage. According to Punjab government sources, the entire security arrangement will be managed by the Prime Minister’s personal security wing and not by Punjab government.
