NEW DELHI, India: The Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, for what it said misusing his position as head of the Government while attending purely organizational functions of his party.

In a statement, the BJP General Secretary Mr. Kirshan Lal Sharma, urged Mr. Rajiv Gandhi to observe a clear cut demarcation between his official tours and party organisational tours.

Mr. Sharma wanted to know who was paying for the government aircraft and other expenses incurred during his tour of Aurangabad and the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While Mr. Gandhi talked of moral values and democratic norms, he himself was destroying all healthy traditions, the BJP leader said and added that it was not the party which was running the government; it was virtually the government which was running the Congress (I).
